2019/20 AGM Chairman’s report.
The season obviously gave us unprecedented situations. Firstly, the weather which caused a massive amount of postponements and as such saw us struggling to get all fixtures fulfilled. Come the new year then the CV19 virus which ultimately curtailed the season as we were forced to cancel all fixtures and then the league in full. This also saw most of the league cup finals cancelled although a couple of the younger ages had managed to get theirs done before everything started.
A positive start however which again saw an increase in teams and player registrations. The upward trend has continued year on year and let us hope that it continues to do so next season.
The committee have again been superb in their respective roles and I am sure that you will join me in thanking them all for what, at times, can be a thankless task but one that has again been carried out very professionally. Please also remember that most of the committee also have roles at their own clubs so put in a large amount of their time to do so.
The CV19 situation has also carried on for the planning for the new season. County FA furloughed most of their staff which has in turn meant delays in starting affiliations, league sanctions etc. For example, until ALL clubs are affiliated, we cannot get the league sanctioned. That in turn means that we cannot fully open such as full time and put out fixtures or confirm player registrations. It is frustrating for the committee as well!
On that subject we (and all other leagues) are now able to get the league sanction submitted on August 18th and we would hope to get fixtures appearing within 7/10 days of that being completed.
Currently we are looking at September 20th as the start date for the new season (all other county youth leagues are working on the same date). For us this will also include the open age (women) fixtures. In these uncertain times that may yet still change but we at least have a date to work to.
The AGM has also been delayed due to meetings still not being possible. As was previously advised we have held off for as long as possible but eventually decided that we would hold the AGM via an email response. Attached therefore please find a reply form which we need returning by 17th August. The committee will then be holding a virtual meeting on the 18th to discuss and ratify any points. We will hopefully be able to confirm everything within 48 hours of this.
The AGM is basically there to cover such as approving accounts, confirming league start and finish dates, voting in any rule changes (none proposed), voting in any new CLUBS and confirming the committee. With the leagues now officially amalgamated we have the strange situation of having to run under two sets of rules. Up to U18 is SCORY and open age (women) SCOR. That is an FA dictate that we must comply with. The new combined league title going forward is: Leicestershire Women and Girls Football League.
Regards, Bill Almen - Chairman
